Spelling Tips and Tricks
Spelling tests will be given on most Thursday's, but if our school week begins on a Tuesday, then spelling tests will be given on Friday.
The students may select one "Bowling Pin" to do for spelling homework on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. (Please give me the number of the pin). ***Do any three "Bowling Pins" per week. Please, please, please number the pins and remember you MUST do a different pin each night.
Bowling Pins:
1. Put words in ABC order 4x's each.
2. Write sp. words 3x's & a rhyming word for each.
3. Write a sentence with each sp. word.
4. Write word separate into syllables.
5. Write your words 3x's each and an antonym (opposite).
6. Write a story using all your words.
7. Illustrate each word by drawing a picture (write the word).
8. Using your own words, write the meaning each word.
9. Give a practice spelling test - write missed words 3x's each
10. Write each word 3x's, then a synonym (word that means the same).
** I understand that there may not be a rhyming word, an antonym, homonym, or a synonym for some words. So, it's okay to skip those.
*When a student bowls a strike, (does all 10 pins) then he/she gets to select from the treasure chest.
